Lloyd Morrisett was an American experimental psychologist with a career in education, communications, and philanthropy. Most notably, Morrisett was one of the founders of Sesame Workshop (formerly known as the Children's Television Workshop), the organization that created Sesame Street, which Morrisett was a co-creator with.

Morrisett attended Oberlin College, where he received his BA in philosophy. He also attended Yale for three years, earning a Ph.D. in experimental psychology after doing research as a graduate student.

Taking a step away from academia after teaching for a few years, Morrisett joined the Social Science Research Council.

In 1966, Morrisett proposed the idea of using television for youth education, and within three years, Sesame Street debuted. Morrisett was particularly helpful in securing financial support for the program, convincing many donors to give millions to the idea.

Morrisett was also the president of the John and Mary Markle Foundation. He initiated the foundation's program in communications and information technology, replacing the foundation's previous focus on medicine.

Morrisett received many honors and awards, including a Doctor of Humane Letters from Oberlin College, a Golden Plate Award from the American Academy of Achievement, a Doctor of Laws from Northwestern University, a Hall of Fame Award from ACT Children's Television, a Doctor of Public Policy from Rand Graduate School, and a Kennedy Center Honors, shared with Joan Ganz Cooney for the creation of Sesame Street.

Morrisett was married to Mary Pierre, with whom he had two daughters.
