Sixes & Ones

Gameplay

Welcome to the Dice Renaissance! Dice games are back (and they really never should’ve gone out of style). Perfect for a rainy day at home, a hazy game at the bar, or a coffee shop catch up date. My point is—you can bring Sixes & Ones anywhere and be ready for six different games where all you need is dice.

Sixes & Ones consists of a collapsable tiered cup, 12 six-sided dice, and an instructions sheet. With these items, you have access to six simple yet super fun dice games, which I’ve taken the liberty of outlining below.

  1. Sixes & Ones
    1. Ah, the namesake game. Played with 2-6 people, the goal of the game is to not lose your dice. Each player starts with an equal number of dice. On your turn, roll, but don’t roll a 6! If you do, you must give that die to the next player. Don’t roll a 1, either! If you do, that die is out of the game. Set it aside. The last one standing (with dice) wins!
  2. White Rabbit
    1. A simple two player game. Each player gets 6 dice and the goal is to complete a sequence 1 through 6. The rules are simple: Player 1 rolls 6 dice, trying to roll a 1. If they do, set it aside. Player 2 tries for the same. Player 1 rolls again, aiming for a 2 and setting it aside if they roll one. Say Player 2 did not roll a 1 last turn, they must try again on their next turn. First person to roll numbers 1 through 6 in order wins!
  3. Three Cowboys
    1. Another two player game: each player gets 6 dice and the goal is to get the lowest amount of points. A 3 is worth 0 points, the rest are worth face value. On your turn, roll, now you must set aside at least 1 die – if you roll 2+ threes, you can set aside 2 threes. Keep rolling until players run out of dice. The lowest score wins!
  4. Alien
    1. An alien is made up of 6 parts—head, body, arms, legs, eyes, smile—in that order. Each number on a die corresponds to a body part. Begin by rolling 2 dice. You must build the alien in order! You can use one or both of what you rolled if it’s the right numbers. First to draw an alien wins!
  5. Nine Lives
    1. Rolling two dice, players are trying to roll a number combination closest to that round’s number. (round 1 = player closest to rolling a total of 1 point wins, round 2 = player closest to rolling a total of 2 points wins). Nine rounds are played, whoever wins the most rounds wins!
  6. Tea Party
    1. And finally, Tea Parry. Each player starts with 3 dice. Roll! If you roll a 2, take one die from another player. If you roll a 3, place one die in the center. If you roll a 4, take one die from the center. Last person standing (with dice!) wins!
