Biographies and Interviews

For this week's feature, I'm speaking with Ana Maria Dinu, founder of The Magical Underland Inc., and the inventor of the Magical Underland Christmas Tree Tent — a Christmas tree that transforms into a safe, immersive play tent for children ages 3+.

Hey Ana Maria, it was great meeting you at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair! Can you share with our readers how you came up with this idea?
The idea was born at home from a simple but essential desire: I wanted to create something truly magical for my daughter, without compromising safety. I didn’t want her to experience Christmas by merely looking at the tree from behind a fence or barrier. I wanted her to interact with it, step inside, explore, and play, while knowing it would never tip over. Safety was the foundation of the idea from day one.

This vision became the Magical Underland Christmas Tree Tent — creating a new category that merges holiday décor with interactive play. From the outside, it is a beautifully illuminated Christmas tree; inside, it becomes a cozy, secure play space with a pop-up structure, integrated LED tree lights, and a signature 3D infinity light reacting to sound and children’s voices — all designed for safe interaction.

Since getting started, have there been any memorable or defining moments?
A defining moment came at the Chicago Toy Fair, where kids lined up just to enter the tree for the first time, and parents immediately understood its value: an interactive, safe holiday experience unlike any other.

Where can people go to learn more about the Magical Underland Christmas Tree Tent?
In 2025, I officially launched the Magical Underland Christmas Tree Tent on Kickstarter to validate the concept, fund production, and bring this magical experience to families around the world:

The design is officially utility patent-pending in the U.S. (US-2024-0260775-A1) and backed by a granted Utility Patent in China, ensuring originality and protection. Today, the brand includes a children’s Christmas Tree Tent, a pet version, and other immersive home concepts, all grounded in safety and interactive storytelling.
