The Bloom Report

Hi Donna, congratulations on airing a new season of Toy of Our Lives on CBS! What made you decide to join Toys of Our Lives?
When I left my past job, I reached out to close friends and told them, "I’m officially moving on!" Within seconds my phone was ringing with offers, Matt was the first person I responded to. It was a perfect offer as I was working in TV production before advertising! Staying in the toy industry which I love, and production, which I love, is the best of both worlds.
Does this remind you of your days on The Hollywood Report?
Yes, and before THR—working in sales on independent films and film festivals constantly convincing clients to buy ad space. With Toys of Our Lives it’s securing toy companies to be a part of this new innovative show. Almost the same, although dealing with toy companies is much easier than actors who come with agents, managers, publicists and a much larger team.
Can you share a bit about the episodes you have already filmed and what you have in the works?
We had a couple of pilot episodes filmed before I came on board, which are available via social media platforms. Some of the upcoming episodes are wrapped around Toy Fair and they look great! I think the industry will enjoy checking out the shows. Future episodes scheduled without giving much away will cover ASTRA, Comic Con, LA Toy Fair and numerous fun segments with various companies and celebrities. We also have some international shows tentatively lined up as toys is an international industry.
How is your venture Sunset Hill Vineyards doing? I hope to visit one day!
With the vineyard, we are getting ready for our 19th year with this venture and aren't sure how many more are in us! So if coming to visit, this is the year as I may be placing the pruners down soon. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always wanted a vineyard and it’s been great; however, lately I’ve been judging more wine for states and I kind of like that part of it a bit more. Come judge our wine, they say…I love wine, I drink wine, I judge wine, I spit!
