Gameplay

The Cake-N-Bake Challenge is fast-paced, color-matching game that has player stack different colored cake layers, competing against one another to build their colorful cake the fastest, all hoping to become Top Baker.

The game comes with a deck of 36 Recipe cards, including Special Recipes and Group Challenge Cards, 32 Candle Cards, 1 Birthday Cake (cut into six pieces of six different colored layers), 6 double-sided Icing Pieces, 1 Game Bell, and 1 Chef’s Hat.

Each Recipe Card shows a unique cake slice, with a combination of different numbers of layers, different colored layers, and different icing designs. The object of each round is to replicate the cake slice on your Recipe Card using your cake layers and Icing Pieces. The first player to do so rings the Game Bell, and if they’re correct, they get to wear the Chef’s Hat for the next round! Each round won earns you a Candle Card, and the first player to earn 6 Candle Cards wins and is crowned Top Baker.

You can play with the basic Recipe Cards for a beginner-level game, but if you’re ready to spice things up, you can add the Special Recipe Cards and the Group Challenge Cards into a your deck.

Special Recipe Cards

There are a few different Special Recipe Cards. These only apply to the player that chooses the card.

• Pass to the Right: If you draw this card, all bakers must pass their card to the player on their right before building begins!
• Candle Thief: If you’re the lucky recipient of this card, you can steal a Candle Card from another player. If no other players have a Candle Card, you can take one from the pile. However, if you already have 5 Candle Cards, you cannot steal a Candle Card to win.
• Cake Swap: When this card is drawn, you can swap Recipe Cards with a player of your choice!
• Quick Bake: This lucky card has a cake with less layers than all the others, meaning you can stack quicker and have the best chance at winning!
• Burnt Cake: If you’re the unfortunate recipient of this card, you automatically lose the round 

Group Challenge Cards

There are a few different Group Challenge Cards, too. These apply to all players, regardless of who drew the card!

• 10-Second Memory: Each player can look at their Recipe Card for 10 seconds before placing it facedown. You must build your cake from memory!
• One-Hand: Players must build their cake using only one hand!
• Upside-Down: Players must stack their cake upside down, with the icing on the bottom!
• Cake Head: Players must stack their cake on top of their head!

History

Cake-N-Bake Challenge was released in 2022 by Hey Buddy Hey Pal.

Hey Buddy Hey Pal was founded in 2015 by inventor Scot Houdashell and his long-time friend Curtis McGill. They named the company after how they’ve always greeted one another! Their first product was the Eggmazing Egg Decorators, which dropped in 2017 with just 10,000 units. They sold out in 23 days! A year later, they took the Eggmazing Egg Decorator and their Treemendous Ornament Decorator on Shark Tank, where Shark Lori Greiner gave the winning offer of a $350,000 loan for 10$ equity, plus a $2 royalty for every unit until the loan was repaid, but half of the royalty would go to a children’s charity of their choice.

Hey Buddy Hey Pal since teamed up with PEEPs for a PEEPs themed Eggmazing Egg Decorator. They’ve also launched other iterations of their egg decorators, including the Dragon Eggmazing Egg Decorator and the Dinomazing Egg Decorator.
