Background
Born into the Toy Industry, Jay grew up “working” at Samuel N. Horowitz & Son, the family toy wholesale distributor, established in NYC, 1901; and later in “Toy City” retail toy discount house in Great Neck, NY. In 1969, Jay established with Plastic Toy & Novelty Corp. Juguetes Toyco, the first American Toy factory in South America. The concept was to export the USA tooling and intellectual property rights to market American toys in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru. Based upon success, in 1978, Jay established American Plastic Equipment, Inc. in Miami, Florida. American acquired the tooling and IPR from the US toy companies to license to toy companies around the world. The BIG Break came in 1982, when American was able to acquire the assets of Marx Toys ™, the world’s largest toy company. This became the new model. Jay purchased toy companies to liquidate their assets while retaining the tooling and intellectual property rights. Ideal Toy, Transogram, Multiple Toy, Aurora, Child Guidance, Suzy Homemaker and Wonder Horse are some of the 32 companies’ assets acquired.
New Inventions: In 2006, Jay invented (patent, copyright, trademark) the Sudoku Cube ™.
